At Woollenstone, I’m passionate about providing high-quality art supplies to artists of all levels. Founded in my deepest darkest moments. Woollenstone has been a few times in the making. I first worked with yarn aged 8. Taking it back up at 22 after a ‘screw you’ decision to read archaeology and history at uni, not art, I, as had been predicted, came back to art.
The reason why though could have never have been predicted. I was under investigation for bipolar disorder, and the knitting helped with the symptoms a great deal in some respects. However, if you know anything of this illness you’ll know we spend, and a lot!
My love of beautiful textures and colours ran away with itself and I began to realise I needed to see if I could make the yarn I loved, as it would, ultimately save me a lot of money. Wather that has been true I’ll never know!
But the experience of making yarn has given me new insight into mindfulness, that is invaluable to me. I now have a yarn addiction and a spinning wheel! (Much to Ruby’s delight)
The journey of wool and yarn has literally saved my life.
However this journey does come with more curveballs; but that tale I’ll leave you to discover…..
